The Best Week of My Life: Sailing through Lofoten, from Svolvær and Tromsø
I began the trip with a mix of excitement and nerves, flying to Lofoten to meet ten strangers. But it didn’t take long to realize this was going to be an incredible group! With people from all over the world, we quickly bonded. On the first night, we anchored at sunset, went for a swim, and talked late into the evening – setting the perfect tone for the unforgettable adventure ahead. It quickly became the best week of my life!
Sailing into Norway’s Legendary Trollfjord
One of the highlights of the trip was sailing into Trollfjorden, one of Norway’s most famous fjords. Named after trolls, it’s filled with legendary tales – stories you can only experience by being here!
After docking, we hiked up to the secluded Trollfjordhytta, one of the most popular DNT cabins of Norway. The views were breathtaking, and we even took a swim in crystal-clear glacial waters before setting sail for Lonkfjorden to spend the night.

I’m not exaggerating when I say this was the best week of my life.
Conquering Møysalen: The Highest Mountain of Hinnøya
We kicked off one morning with a refreshing swim, then set out for a challenging 15-kilometer trek to Møysalen. As the tallest peak on a Norwegian island, standing at 1,264 meters, it offered incredible views that made the steep climb worth every step. Our teamwork got us through the loose rocks and steep paths – an unforgettable experience.

Sail, Sauna & Yoga: Relaxation After Adventure
After a long day of hiking, you’d think we’d want to go straight to bed. But no! We spent the evening enjoying the deck in Sortland. The next morning, after a hearty breakfast, we headed to a sauna where Lottie, a fellow sailor and yoga instructor, led us in a peaceful meditation session – a perfect start to the day.

Ever Filleted a Fish in Heavy Waves? We Did!
The journey then took us to Andøya and Bleik, but first, we needed to catch our dinner. Our fishing efforts were a resounding success, and soon we had a bountiful catch in our box. As we set sail, we experienced the roughest conditions of the trip, all against the backdrop of a stunning sunset. Everyone came together on deck, and the atmosphere was something truly special—intense yet calming, a moment where our sense of camaraderie deepened.
Dinner was a memorable challenge, as Tonje and Sindre filleted our fresh catch while the boat rocked side to side. It’s a moment I’m sure they’ll never forget! Once we docked in Bleik, we enjoyed a delicious fish dinner before heading to the local bar, a cozy spot filled with welcoming locals who embraced us with open arms. The evening wrapped up with a refreshing night swim at the beach, a perfect end to a fantastic day.

Exploring Senja: Norway’s Second-Largest Island
Our journey took us across a five-hour sail to Hamn in Senja. After arriving, we immediately jumped into a jacuzzi before enjoying a three-course meal in a restaurant while watching the sunset. The next day, we explored the island with kayaking and hiking adventures, soaking in the beauty before setting sail again.

Sauna & Halyard Swing: Pure Joy
Sailing to Fjordgård, we experienced yet another beautiful sunset. The evening became even more thrilling with halyard swings off the moving boat, filling the air with laughter. Once docked, we headed straight to the sauna for a sing-along session to classic tunes. It was one of those nights you never forget!

Tromsø: The Gateway to the Arctic
The final leg of the journey took us on a hike up to Hesten, the Horse, surrounded by mist and light rain. The views were absolutely worth it. As we sailed toward Tromsø, a rope tangled in the propeller, but our skipper, Johannes, and Sindre fearlessly jumped into the water to fix it.
Later that evening, we gathered on deck under the midnight sun to share our favorite moments from the trip. How had the journey affected us? What were the highlights? What challenges had we overcome together? As we talked and laughed, we all agreed on one thing – this wouldn’t be the last time we’d sail together!

Memories That Last a Lifetime
Shared experiences and challenges
A sailing trip is more than just crossing the sea – it’s about navigating new situations together. We bonded through shared experiences, learned to work as a team, and supported each other through challenges.
Trust and vulnerability
On a sailboat, you show sides of yourself that might normally stay hidden. Late-night conversations and shared laughter over small mishaps quickly create trust and openness among everyone onboard.
The small, magical moments
There is something very special about the spontaneous memories that arise along the way – the quiet morning hours with sunrise, the good atmosphere around dinner after a long day, or the feeling of mastery when you tie your first fender. It is these moments that stay with you home and make the sailing trip unforgettable.
