Travel Slow

Time to do something crazy?

Travel slowly (and tiringly) to the starting point of the trip and win a sailing trip with SeilNorge!

How can you travel slower, better, and more meaningfully—and in a way that’s good for your body? We want to focus on slow travel and how you get to and from our trips in the best possible way. The slower you travel, the better it gets.

This summer, we’re giving away 6 sailing trips to those who make it all the way from their starting point to the SeilNorge harbour with the smallest possible footprint. Will it be on foot? By bike? Or maybe on roller skis?

Welcome to a slow, tiring, and meaningful journey to, and with, SeilNorge.

Start the adventure before you step on board

With SeilNorge, the journey begins long before we hoist the sails. We love the nature we sail in. So we want to do more than simply use the wind when we can.

It might be a train through Europe, a bus along the coast, a bike ride over the mountains, or thousands of steps on foot. Maybe the journey to the departure point becomes the greatest adventure of all?

Do you take the challenge?!

With our “Slow & Tiring Travel” challenge, we invite you to find new ways of getting to your departure point—without flying or taking trains, or buses, and with as much use of your body as possible.

Do you want new adventures without leaving a footprint? Can you reach your SeilNorge departure point without flying? Will anyone take on the challenge of biking, paddling, or walking all the way there? Enter the draw for 6 free spots on a summer sailing trip in 2026.

Competition: Travel Slow

We will draw the winners among those who reach the departure point without flying.

Send a short project description by 1 June to flaskepost@seilnorge.no. You are welcome to be creative! Film? Pictures? Funny text? The winner per category will receive a free trip with SeilNorge for a maximum of 3 persons who have participated in the project.

We have two project categories:

  1. From Oslo to the departure point, slow and tough: no flights, trains, or buses.
  2. Longest journey on two wheels: whoever cycled the farthest to the departure point. Cape Town or Paris?

If you win, you must:

  • document your journey along the way
  • complete the journey between 1st June and 31st September 2026

This is the holiday version of biking to work!

Green Travel

At SeilNorge, we continuously work to reduce our own footprint.

This is what we already do:

  • We sail as much as we can—but sailing is slow. Sometimes it’s demanding
  • Sailing is sustainability in practice: we work with nature, adjust our plans to make the most of wind and weather, and it requires knowledge, patience—and hard work
  • We sail when we can, and use the engine when we must
  • We repair and maintain our equipment whenever possible instead of buying new—even when it costs more, and even when we have to argue with the workshop to make them fix things
  • We catch our own dinner
  • We travel in small groups, minimizing impact on nature and the places we visit
  • We collaborate and shop with local suppliers
  • We pick up trash wherever we go, together with our guests and in collaboration with Elv & Hav (River & Ocean)
